THERMAL R&D

98.31 WHP
102.52 TQ
PN# B208-C208

The Thermal exhaust was the first full cat-back to be tested. It, too, consisted of polished steel components and a weld-on hanger. The unique tip confi guration placed the muffler further into the xB's body, but still aligned the tip to the acceptable outlet in the bumper. Once the factory piping was cut, the slip fit/clamp-on construction went on without a hitch and still managed to have the exhaust line up perfectly and without any exhaust-to-body contact.

On the dyno, peak power output from the Thermal unit came in at 98.31 WHP and 102.52 lb/ft TQ, an increase of 1.35 WHP and just under 2 lb/ft of TQ. Again, the more pressing story happens in the area under the curve, as this is where it's obvious that the entire powerband has shifted upwards, creating more power at an earlier point in the RPM range. Gains here, under the curve, were as large as 4 WHP.
