Manufacturer Pitch - NGK Power Cables are designed to out perform OE style cables. Standard carbon core spark plug cables can have 16 K Ohms of resistance per meter. The more resistance a cable has the shorter life span and less spark energy reached the spark plug. NGK Power Cables have .9 K Ohms per meter or 0.274 K Ohms per foot. As resistance decreases, electro magnetic interference (EMI) increases. In order to keep the EMI low while decreasing resistance, you need to change the cable's inductance.
The idea is to have a spark plug cable with the least amount of resistance, while at the same time reducing EMI. An increase in EMI can directly affect the ECU and electronic components on today's technologically advanced automobiles. EMI can damage these components resulting in costly repairs.
NGK has taken these issues into consideration and has designed a spark plug cable, which out performs the OE style cables, yet provides the necessary protection against EMI.
NGK Power Cables use a high temp silicone jacket protecting the cable from chemicals, abrasion and temperatures up to 400 degrees F. Wire manufacturers try to promote spark plug wires with large diameter jackets by saying they will increase horsepower. The outer jacket of a spark plug cable protects against voltage leakage and heat. Most cars driven on the street will never see temperatures exceeding 400 degrees F under most driving conditions. The larger diameter wires were intended for use in drag racing applications that use large tube headers, which produce excessive under hood temperatures. The larger cables do not fit properly in the factory looms and end up lying on top of the valve cover. This can only lead to poor performance and misfire issues.

Fit & Finish (Our Review) - The NGK wires had the best fit at both the distributor and spark plug end. The NGK wires were also the only wires tested with a factory outside diameter to fit in the OEW wire looms.
